  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 bag frozen tater tots

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the ground beef and onions until the beef fully browns and the onions soften.
  3. Drain excess grease from the skillet. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream to the skillet. Stir until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  5. Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese until combined.
  6. Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared casserole dish.
  7. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer across the top of the casserole.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes until the casserole bubbles and the tater tots become golden brown and crispy.
  10. Allow the casserole to rest for several minutes before serving.
